who we are:

Karl and Mary Ransleben, owners
red makes us think of excitement, passion, pizzaz, energy, love and …hearts, the hearts of all who are touched by red in some way. Karl and I see red as a ministry to serve others; our employees, our customers and our community. Our greatest joy is knowing that hearts are smiling because of red.
While Karl is an invaluable numbers man, Mary is a creative with a love of color and a bright eye out for unique vintage & custom pieces. She is also red’s events inspiration, who loves to bring people together for a great time for good causes.

Carolyn Moore, general manager & buyer
I have always loved vintage furniture and antiques, but my favorite part of the day at red is when people come into the store for the first time. They always ask where else we are located, and I am so happy to say that we are a great local business supported by amazing local people!
Carolyn’s design work has been featured on HGTV, in DIY Magazine & more.

Leslie Wallendorf, Accounts Manager
I like to come in and see a new creative vision each day. My favorite things are floor moves and the daily inspiration I get from working with creative people! I also love when people say “you must really love working at red” and I get the pleasure of saying “I really do”!
Leslie is most often found in the office, crunching numbers (and wow are we grateful) but multitalented as she is, on a busy day you may even catch her designing a sofa!

Theresa Heard, Design & Display
I love all things unique, quirky and random. I feel like vintage pieces are just so neat that they sometimes have a life of their own, like their own little personality. Which is why it is so much fun to get pictures back from friends & customers showing how their red things look in their ‘new home’! I love helping people find or design just the piece they were looking for: it’s so fun to see them excited about it!
Theresa is red’s in-home design diva. Her uncommon talent for design, placement and fabric combinations has involved her in countless home make-overs and custom design projects.
Derek Pittman, Warehouse Manager & Push Pull
I am the muscle behind red’s look, the man who makes sure everything hangs, sits and arrives safe and sound. I really like the way red’s design center came together and enjoyed my role in building the pieces to make it happen.
Derek manages the warehouse, shipments, deliveries and is instrumental as the brawn behind the beauty of red’s displays & in-home design projects.
Nikki Moore, Advertising & Graphic Design
In a seemingly cookie cutter world, red is just so many good things: a spot for uncommon custom design, a place to find people who really want to help you make your home your very own, a mecca for funky vintage finds, a locally owned and community supporting enterprise backed by people who really care about one another, a great spot for unique, quality gifts, a store that supports local craftspeople and artists…
Darla Parker, Custom Designer
Right now, my favorite things in the store are all the vintage Christmas ornaments. I’ve collected such ornaments for years, but I still love the discovery of each one. With hopes of a new niece arriving soon, I’m in Heaven with the abundance of delightful pink-hued baubles adorning the Red Christmas tree, each one a simple pleasure! I already have visions of next Christmas — a creamy white nursery, with a sweet sleeping baby and a darling little feather tree dripping with pink vintage ornaments.
As for what I love about being at Red…I love seeing simple items repurposed in form or function; like the sweet vintage child’s horse hanging over the back of a sofa, or an old golf ball basket converted into a light fixture.
Darla has her finger on the pulse. She is the go-to girl for community events and a woman in the know when it comes to design trends and ideas.
